Senator Obama is the Rising Star for Democrats

Senator Barack Obama (D-Ill), is the only black man in the US Senate at the moment, and is also running for President of the United States. Being only 40-something, he is one of the younger candidates. How did Barack gain such a quick following?
  • Honesty
  • Inspiration
  • Hopefulness

  • Barack Obama represents the American dream for a lot of people, and stands as an inspiring light for millions. He is a well-educated, eloquent black man who has devoted his entire life to community service - unlike many other candidates. Some are afraid that he does not have the experience under his belt to lead the country, but don't forget Abraham Lincoln only served the same amount of time before being elected.

Obama delivered the keynote address at the 2004 Democratic National Convention while still an Illinois state legislator. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in November 2004 with a landslide 70% of the vote in an election year marked by Republican gains. As a member of the Democratic minority in the 109th Congress, Obama co-sponsored the enactment of conventional weapons control and transparency legislation, and made official trips to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In the 110th Congress, he has sponsored legislation on lobbying and electoral fraud, climate change, nuclear terrorism, and care for returned U.S. military personnel.
