Barack Obama Thanks Iowa Supporters

By Honest Hope - Feb. 18, 2008

Here's a letter sent from Barack Obama, thanking supporters in Iowa.
It Reads:

Dear XXXX,

Now that Caucus Night has passed and half of the country has weighed in, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for all you did as a volunteer in XX County to help propel us to victory in Iowa. Michelle and I could not have done it without you.

When I began this journey a year ago, many pundits and campaign professionals were skeptical. But what I asked myself then was whether individual Americans would respond to the call for a grassroots effort to change their country. That was the question that mattered to me, because I knew that if the people rejected conventional politics and demanded real change, everything else would follow.

You answered that question with a resounding "YES", and because of that commitment, you set America firmly on a different path. Our victory in Iowa led to a surge of volunteers and small donors that powered us to victory on February 5th, when we won the most states and the most delegates nationwide.

I hope you'll take a moment now to reflect on your individual contribution to this victory and on what we've accomplished together. You have not only helped answer the question whether the American people are ready for change, you have demonstrated that they are willing to engage in a grassroots movement to achieve it. Now we must push on through primaries in the rest of the country, win in November, and start implementing our shared vision.

You've helped bring us a great victory. Thank you again for all your hard work, and your personal conviction.

Sincerely,

Barack Obama
